We have an exciting opportunity for an O2R Recovery Coordinator to join our Criminal Justice team in Walsall.

The Offender to Rehab programme is unique to West Midlands Police, it has been running informally since 2018 and is proving to be effective in successfully rehabilitating prolific retail offenders with prolonged and very high levels of drug addiction.

Engage with offenders, partners and colleagues to prevent harm and reduce demand of volume crime impacting on the Business community. Persistent engagement and support are required to build trust and understand the needs of the individuals to identify the best pathway for their recovery.   

You will be a key contact for a number of offenders throughout their rehabilitation journey. You will manage them from the initial referral, through to supporting them back in to the community, in conjunction with partner agencies. 

Where: Walsall

Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week 

Contract Type: Permanent

Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours. 

Responsibilities:

• Work in partnership with West Midlands Police and other stakeholders in Walsall.
• Provide a seamless link between police/court, custody suites, prison, and the community.
• Provide assessment and information for those signing up to be part of the O2R programme.
• Facilitate and be included within individualised care planning and reviews with partners and service users for the most appropriate support
• To ensure that record keeping and feedback is completed to a high standard and within time scales; and information governance/sharing policies and procedures are adhered to
• Deliver psychosocial interventions to reduce disengagement, reduce harm and associated criminality.
• Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral
• Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
• Promoting carer, service user and community involvement
• Providing advocacy for access to partnership services
• Working with service users to support social (re)integration, enabling them to lead meaningful and purposeful lives: promoting recovery, resilience, peer support and self-determination

What we are looking for:

• The ability to obtain and maintain police vetting.
• Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
• Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills
• Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
• Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
• Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
• Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
• Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
• Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others
