We are seeking a highly experienced and confident Recovery Coordinator to join our Outreach Team. This is a specialist, autonomous role requiring a strong background in drug and alcohol services, extensive case management experience, and the ability to work independently with individuals who have complex and entrenched substance use needs.

 

You will work assertively with people who are rough sleeping, at risk of homelessness, or living in hostels, many of whom may be disengaged from services. This role is not entry-level and is best suited to candidates who can demonstrate proven expertise in substance misuse treatment pathways, harm reduction, and assertive outreach engagement.

 

 

This role includes a requirement to work unsociable hours in line with service needs. Our service operates flexibly to support clients, including late openings during the week and a Saturday morning provision. You will be expected to take part in a rota alongside other Recovery Coordinators to support these hours, and to undertake other duties as required to meet the needs of the service or service users.

 

 

Where: Brighton - Richmond House (base)  

Full Time Hours: 37.5 per week

*Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.  

Responsibilities

About the Role 

We are seeking a highly experienced and confident Recovery Coordinator to join our Outreach Team. This is a specialist, autonomous role requiring a strong background in drug and alcohol services, extensive case management experience, and the ability to work independently with individuals who have complex and entrenched substance use needs.

 

You will work assertively with people who are rough sleeping, at risk of homelessness, or living in hostels, many of whom may be disengaged from services. This role is not entry-level and is best suited to candidates who can demonstrate proven expertise in substance misuse treatment pathways, harm reduction, and assertive outreach engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver assertive outreach to individuals who are rough sleeping, in hostels, or in supported accommodation, including those reluctant to engage.
  • Manage a complex caseload independently, including risk assessment, care planning, safeguarding, and regular reviews.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of opiate and alcohol treatment pathways, including referral into prescribing and clinical interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based harm reduction interventions, including overdose prevention and naloxone awareness/provision.
  • Deliver a range of psychosocial interventions beyond Motivational Interviewing, tailored to complex substance misuse needs.
  • Operate needle and syringe programmes (NSP) and provide effective harm minimisation advice.
  • Work closely with clinical teams to determine safe and appropriate treatment pathways.
  • Engage in multi-agency working, including strong collaboration with:
    • Adult Social Care
    • Child Safeguarding services
    • Mental Health services
    • Housing and homelessness services
  • Maintain accurate records and demonstrate robust risk management and safeguarding practice.
  • Deliver outreach shifts across varied times and locations, including evenings and occasional weekends.

 

About You 

Essential:

  • Significant experience in drug and alcohol services, including direct work with opiate and/or alcohol dependence.
  • Strong, proven case management experience with complex and high-risk service users.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of:
    • Opiate substitution treatment pathways (OST)
    • Overdose prevention and naloxone
    • Harm reduction approaches
  • Experience working in an outreach setting, including engagement with rough sleepers or highly marginalised groups.
  • Confidence working autonomously and making informed clinical-risk decisions.
  • Experience delivering a range of structured psychosocial interventions (not solely Motivational Interviewing).
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, including pathways into adult social care and child protection services.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-agency environments and navigate complex systems.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience working in homelessness, hostel, or street outreach services
  • Knowledge of local treatment systems and referral pathways
  • Experience supporting individuals with multiple and co-occurring needs (e.g. mental health, housing instability, offending history)
