We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Educator to join our Inspire service! This role is Lancashire wide delivering mainly face to face targeted training and education sessions to communities and partner organisations - although there will be some element of online delivery as required. 

 

The role will also lead in partnership with the other Community Educator the development and production of alcohol and drug-related resources for the community to reduce harm, raise awareness and promote services, liaising closely with colleagues across the service and region to ensure joined-up working.

 

Where: Lancashire-wide

Hours: Full time, 37.5hrs per week

Responsibilities

About the role;

  • Delivery of training and awareness raising sessions with audiences of varying levels of knowledge.
  • Utilise digital platforms to deliver sessions as well as face to face delivery.
  • Planning and evaluation of training or education programmes.
  • Organising events and campaigns to promote or raise awareness of messages.
  • Responsibility for risk management and Health & Safety requirements of the delivered training events
  • Developing promotional or awareness raising materials and content.
  • Developing campaigns to raise awareness of subject matter focussed on identified cohorts.
  • Produce reports on the effectiveness of harm reduction campaigns and messages using qualitative and quantitative mechanisms.
  • Understanding of current developments and priorities in substance misuse policy at a national and local level.
  • Work collaboratively and utilise the significant knowledge and experience of colleagues and service leads to ensure the accuracy of messages provided.
  • Build and maintain networks and effective working relationships with a full range of health professionals, statutory officers, and community/voluntary workers.

About you;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent training and presentation skills and the ability to tailor messages to a wide range of audiences and communities
  • Experience in planning, delivery and evaluation of a training programme.
  • Ability to work independently, but also to contribute to team working.
  • Ability to be flexible in working arrangements and work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to create a range of new harm reduction and health promotion resources in a variety of formats including digital which meet the needs of the population.
  • Advanced IT skills including the use of MS Teams, PowerPoint, social media, websites and apps
  • Knowledge of drug and or alcohol use and the relevant harm minimisation messages, or the ability to develop knowledge in this area.
  • Understanding of current developments and priorities in substance misuse policy at a national and local level.
  • Experience of liaising and working with professionals from a variety of services
  • Evaluation and report writing skills
  • A commitment to personal development.
  • The ability to work outside office hours as and when required.
