An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Cheshire East Young People’s Service, supporting children and young people affected by another person’s drug and/or alcohol use. As an IMPACT Children and Families Worker, you will provide confidential one‑to‑one support to under‑18s, delivering interventions and education through creative and emotional wellbeing activities. Using a young person‑centred approach, the role empowers young people to navigate challenging situations and build safer, healthier lives.
 
The role also includes delivering training to professionals and partner agencies to improve understanding of the IMPACT service and how it supports children and young people.

 

 

Where: Cheshire East

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

 

 

Responsibilities

About the Role:

  • To holistically support children and young people affected by another person’s substance use, using a range of interventions including group work, one‑to‑one sessions, safety planning, and safeguarding.
  • Identifying and responding effectively to potential safeguarding concerns.
  • Reducing drug and alcohol‑related harm to young people and the wider community.
  • Working with young people to achieve positive, holistic outcomes for their health and wellbeing, enabling them to lead safe, healthy, and purposeful lives by reducing risk and increasing resilience.
  • Delivering training and awareness sessions to professionals and partner agencies to promote understanding of the IMPACT service and its support offer for children and young people.
  • Working collaboratively within a multi‑agency framework, including attending and contributing to multi‑agency meetings and planning processes centred around the needs of the child.
  • Working flexibly in the community and across sites where required.

About You

  • Experience of working with young people and an understanding of the challenges they face.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people, including the Gillick Competence framework.
  • A strong understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working in a related field.
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based practice within young people’s drug and alcohol treatment services, including relevant best‑practice guidance.
  • An accomplished communicator, both verbally and in writing, with a high level of IT competency.
  • Ability to accurately update and maintain records and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Excellent team‑working and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to supporting colleagues and multi‑agency partners.

*Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.
