The Dual Diagnosis Senior Worker will play a key role within our Coventry Substance Misuse Service, supporting individuals experiencing both mental health and substance use challenges. The post will strengthen our approach to working with people with co-occurring needs, helping them to access the right treatment, advocacy, and multi-agency support to achieve sustainable recovery.

 

You’ll work collaboratively across health, social care, and community networks to improve outcomes and reduce barriers to support for people who often fall between services.

 

Where: Coventry
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £32,002.35 – £34,214.20 (dependent on experience)

 

Please note: For part-time roles, salary and benefits will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the role: 

  • Lead on supporting service users with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs, ensuring joined-up, person-centred care.
  • Provide specialist guidance and support to Recovery Workers, helping to embed best practice in working with dual diagnosis presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, Mental Health Teams, Housing, Probation, Police, and Social Care to reduce barriers to support and ensure continuity of care.
  • Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, including MARACs, safeguarding conferences, and mental health partnership forums.
  • Hold a specialist caseload of individuals requiring enhanced coordination, ensuring their care is trauma-informed, safe, and recovery-focused.
  • Support colleagues through reflective practice, case consultation, and sharing of learning around complex presentations.

About you: 

  • You’ll have a strong understanding of mental health, substance misuse, and dual diagnosis, with practical experience supporting people with complex needs.
  • You’ll be empathetic and trauma-informed, able to work sensitively with people experiencing crisis or emotional distress.
  • You’re a team player and problem-solver, confident in partnership working and building effective professional relationships.
  • You have excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to manage case recording, reporting, and multi-agency coordination effectively.
  • You bring resilience and self-awareness, managing the emotional demands of the role while maintaining boundaries and professionalism.
