As a Night Recovery Worker with Change Grow Live at the St Thomas Fund in Brighton you’ll work with people who use our services, helping them get to where they want to be.


In this role, you will provide evening and overnight (sleep-in) cover supporting residents with complex substance use histories, often linked to rough sleeping.

You will facilitate structured, non-therapeutic daily planning groups to support routine, stability, and personal responsibility, whilst maintaining a safe, supportive and clean domestic environment in the residential setting, in line with safeguarding and health & safety protocols.

You will respond effectively to issues that arise during evening shifts, de-escalating situations where needed and escalating concerns appropriately.

This role will involve lone working. 

Where:  Hove

Full Time Hours: 4.30pm- 9.30am with a sleep in requirement from 11.00pm to 7.30am , on a 4 day and 3 day fortnightly shift pattern 

Full Time Salary Range: £27,861.26 - £32,002.35 (based on full time hours, pro rata for part time)  

Contract Type: Permanent

 

*Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours. 

Responsibilities

About the role:  

  

  • Respond effectively to issues that arise during evening shifts, de-escalating situations where needed and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Work independently as a lone worker, demonstrating confidence, professionalism, and clear boundaries in a complex, high need setting.
  • To act as a point of contact for the St Thomas Fund community in an after-hours capacity.
  • Work with the On-Call manager to deal with out of hour emergencies and maintain SU and staff wellbeing and safety.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify needs, risks, and recovery goals, taking appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Develop, deliver, and regularly review care and support plans in collaboration with individuals.
    Assist in the transition of clients between residential and community services, ensuring continuity of care.

  

About you:  

  

  • Experience of working with substance misusers
  • Understanding of the issues and needs of service users participating in a residential rehabilitation programme.
  • Experience of engaging in and delivering programmes that enhance motivation, seek positive change and maintain stability.
  • Experience of delivering group and individual based interventions to a client group that can be both challenging and demanding.
  • The capacity to innovate, work flexibly on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • The ability to work calmly in a challenging environment.
  • A commitment to reflecting critically upon practice in order to improve the quality of services delivered to our service users, the wider community and those that commission our service.
  • Experience of working positively with a range of statutory and voluntary sector agencies.
  • Good administrative, recording and reporting skills.
