An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Childrens & Families Worker to join a dynamic team committed to supporting young people who have been affected by someone drug and/or alcohol issues.  

 

The primary focus of this role is to work with children and young people who are impacted by a family member's substance misuse by delivering a programme of interventions. Our aim is to build resilience and minimise the impact of parental or other family member's substance misuse. 

 

 

Location: Rugby (role will be Countywide)

Full Time Salary Range: £27,861.26 - £32,002.35

Full Time Hours: 37.5 per week 

Contract: 12 month fixed term

 

 

*Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours. 

Responsibilities

Who we are:

 

Evolve is Change Grow Live’s confidential service in Warwickshire supporting young people between the ages of 5 and 25. We offer advice and guidance to young people who are affected by a loved one’s drug or alcohol misuse or if they are using drugs or alcohol themselves and want support to make changes.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be hard working, enthusiastic and non-judgmental.
  • Be creative in how to engage children as young as 5.
  • Empower children and young people who are affected by parental substance misuse.
  • Be confident in delivering groups and peer support sessions.
  • Be confident in delivering parent support package.
  • Advocate for their caseload to receive the appropriate support from other professionals.
  • Work within a fast-paced team.
  • Be able to manage time effectively and input data on an information system adhering to timescales.
  • Comply with General Data Protection Regulation when handling data management systems.

‘My job is really varied, I can be in schools talking about consent and healthy relationships, out in the community running group sessions about drugs and alcohol or supporting young people with getting involved in activities like boxing or running club. I get to spend every day working with young people and seeing the difference you can make to a young person's life makes my job feel so rewarding. We are always open to trying new ways of working if it is beneficial for the young people we are supporting and that is a great thing to be a part of.’

 

The role is very rewarding though it can be emotionally taxing. The team are very supportive and are always available for a de-brief.
