This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor who is committed to work with patients who have substance use problems and the multifaceted clinical and psychosocial issues that form part of the presenting problems. 

 

The post-holder will have a 6 month probationary period as Clinical Fellow working under the supervision of a Consultant trainer and gain competencies to work in Addictions Psychiatry. Upon evidencing attainment of the required competencies and successful completion of the probationary period, the doctor will transition to the role of Specialty Doctor in Addictions Psychiatry. 

 

Where West Sussex

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £65,000(based on full time hours, pro rata for part time) 

 

 

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the role: 

 

  • To provide a clinical assessment, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation, of a wide range of substance users presenting to the service 
  • Initiate appropriate prescribing regimes under consultant supervision to clients in line with national legislation and national and local guidance  
  • Support nursing team to titrate patients safely on to a treatment regime and ensure that procedures are constantly reviewed to promote best evidenced-based practice 
  • Attend the monthly Doctors’ Meeting; which includes an academic programme of CPD, and complex case discussions as well as being able to attend other CPD activities  
  • Support the service in carrying out research which will be of benefit to the future treatment of patients 
  • Establish good communication and effective working relationships with all relevant agencies 
  • The post holder will be expected to participate in clinical audit and other clinical governance activity 
  • In addition to in-house training and regular supervision the post holder will be encouraged to further their experience and qualifications in the field of addiction by attendance at relevant workshops / courses 

 

About you 

 

  • Medical Degree and completion of Basic Medical Training with full GMC UK Registration and Licence to Practice 
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team setting and with other Agencies 
  • Effective communication skills 
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work effectively with partnership agencies 
  • Commitment to the principles of equality and diversity in relation to all people and anti-discriminatory practice 
  • Show commitment to facilitating positive outcomes for service users 
  • Ability to travel across West Sussex
