We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Practitioner / Coordinator to support the development of the Alcohol Team in Liverpool.

 

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Worker to join our Alcohol Team, specialising in supporting individuals with complex needs. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference by delivering high-quality, recovery-focused interventions to service users facing multiple challenges, including co-existing mental and physical health issues. You will act as a practice lead within a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment, helping shape and deliver personalised recovery pathways. The role demands a proactive, empathetic professional who excels in both one-to-one care and broader service development, including community engagement, harm reduction, and clinical screening interventions.

 

The ideal candidate will bring significant experience working with individuals who traditionally face barriers in accessing services, such as those from marginalised groups, rough sleepers, sex workers, and people with enduring mental health needs. This role includes a strong outreach component, requiring flexibility, cultural awareness, and a robust understanding of risk management and safeguarding. You will also play a key part in supervising peer mentors and volunteers, supporting a recovery community ethos, and fostering multi-agency collaboration to ensure continuity of care. Location: Liverpool

Full Time Salary Range: £32,002.35 to £34,214.21 depedent on experience (based on full time hours, pro rata for part time)
Full time Hours: 37.5 per week

 

*Please note: full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

  • Identify, and engage with, people who have alochol misuse problems with complex physical and / or mental health needs, including co-morbidity. Providing advice, support and recovery focused structured clinical and/or psychosocial interventions.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop recovery plans that clearly identify how they will enable progression in addressing alcohol use
  • Support the development of service based recovery communities.
  • Further develop CGL’s links with local recovery groups / mutual aid groups.
  • To deliver outreach services to key sites and groups related to substance misuse provision, homelessness, promoting access for service users and concerned others.
  • To adhere to CGL policies and processes in delivery of services – particularly lone working and health and safety related to working with complex service users.
  • To provide rapid and flexible interventions where required to meet the needs of the service users

About you:

  • Experience of delivering community-based outreach services in a substance misuse setting.
  • Experience of working with service users with a range of needs, such as mental health, physical heath and criminal justice.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.
  • Experience of working with clients with complex physical and / or mental health needs including co-morbidity.
  • Knowledge and experience of multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with other professions to achieve good outcomes for the service user group, e.g. mental health services, criminal justice agencies, community groups, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services and good practice.
  • Experience of participation in audit cycles
  • Experience of working in an outcomes-focussed environment.
  • Experience of managing complex and high risk child and adult safeguarding cases
  • Ability to lead particular work streams and guide frontline workers in the delivery of quality services
