We are looking to hire a Junior Network Engineer to assist in maintaining, supporting, and optimising the organisation’s network infrastructure. This role is ideal for an individual keen to build expertise in networking and infrastructure services, while actively contributing to ongoing projects. The Junior Network Engineer will play a key role in monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and assisting in the implementation of new network technologies under the guidance of more senior engineers.

 

Where: Home or Local Hub based (UK travel required when necessary) 

Hours: Fulltime, 37.5 hours per week 

Salary: £35,220.59 - £39,891.91 (based on full time hours, pro rata for part time) 

Contract Type: Permanent 

 

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and management of network hardware and software (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Monitor network traffic, identify potential issues, and escalate problems as necessary.
  • Work with more senior team members to diagnose and resolve network-related problems.
  • Participate in the documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with network security management by monitoring for vulnerabilities and following best practices.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as software updates, backups, and patch management.
  • Respond to technical support requests, resolving network and connectivity issues for users.
  • Collaborate with the team on network performance improvements and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational security policies and guidelines.
  • Perform performance testing and troubleshooting of network components under the guidance of senior Engineers.
  • Contribute to network automation and process efficiency through the scripting of common tasks.

About you:

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience with basic networking concepts such as IP addressing, routing, and switching.
  • Understanding of key networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and experience with network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with network hardware (e.g., switches, routers) from vendors such as Cisco, HP, and Juniper.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic network issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to articulate technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, with keen attention to detail.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Certified in a networking-related qualification such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA.
  • Experience in network monitoring and performance management.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking environments (AWS, Azure) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices.
