The postholder will lead the harm reduction offer across the service, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure both the ethos and the evidence base of harm reduction informs all aspects of service delivery.

Location: Lewisham

Full Time Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Full Time Salary Range: £27,861.26 - £32,002.35 dependent on experience, pro rata for part time hours

Allowance: £4,133.14 Inner London Weighting 

Contract Type: Fixed term maternity cover until January 2026

 

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

With this role you’ll be working as part of a team, based in Lewisham

The team supports people with their or their loved ones’ drug and/or alcohol issues.

Key activities include:

  • Ensure that Health Promotion and Harm Reduction messages are integrated throughout the recovery service
  • Support operational managers to deliver Recovery Focused, Therapeutic, Psychosocial drug and alcohol treatment services in conjunction with key partners and stakeholders across the area
  • Work with people who have lost contact with services to ensure that they are able to access required support
  • Liaising closely with Public Health Specialists, Commissioners, and Health Promotion colleagues across the region to ensure joined-up working
  • Engage those who have never had contact with drug and alcohol services but could benefit from support
  • To establish contact with rough sleepers and beggars; working within protocols to rapidly assist service users through street outreach shifts at a variety of times and a range of locations
  • To identify and target entrenched rough sleepers including those unwilling to engage with services, providing assertive outreach

About you:

  • Experience of delivering harm reduction interventions for both alcohol and drugs in one to one and group work settings
  • Ability to build and maintain networks and effective working relationships with a full range of health professionals, statutory officers, and community/voluntary workers
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following: drug use, alcohol misuse, mental health
  • The ability to work with confidence and patience with clients unwilling to engage with services and those that exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, but also to contribute to team working
