As a Healthy Living Café Lead, you’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere at Simon’s Café, supporting its daily operations and ensuring an inclusive environment for both the public and service users. You will oversee a team of sessional staff and volunteers, manage budgets and inventories, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and work collaboratively with internal and external partners to promote the café as a vital wellbeing resource within the community. This role requires strong leadership, operational insight, and a passion for creating supportive, welcoming environments that promote positive mental health and social connection.

 

Location: Coventry

Part Time Hours: 30 per week
Full Time Salary: £27,861.26 - £32,002.35 (pro rata for part time)

 

*Please note: full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Healthy Living Café Lead, you’ll play a key part in creating a warm, supportive environment in our community café. You will:

  • Supervise and coordinate Café staff volunteers

  • Create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for the public and service users

  • Help coordinate volunteer rotas and café activities

  • Facilitate or support ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ group sessions

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene

  • Monitor stock, support ordering, and manage food and drink presentation

  • Handle cash transactions and support with basic admin tasks

  • Promote teamwork and take part in learning and development opportunities

About You

We’re looking for someone friendly, reliable, and passionate about community wellbeing. Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience in a café, hospitality, or customer service environment

  • A warm and approachable attitude, with strong people skills

  • Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Experience in staff training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Confidence working in a team and supporting others

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Basic food safety knowledge and experience handling food and drink

  • NVQ Level 1 in hospitality & catering (or willingness to work towards it)

  • A genuine passion for creating a positive experience for others
