Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you would offer specialist clinical interventions to people who use our services.

 

We have an excellent opportunity for an energetic and passionate community based Substance Misuse Nurseto help shape our vision in how we provide clinical services to individuals whose lives have been affected by drugs and alcohol.   

 

The post holder is responsible for specialist clinical assessments and interventions to Service Users. The person will liaise with both statutory and voluntary sectors including acute hospitals, mental health services, Dual Diagnosis, hostels and GP’s.

 

  

Where: London, Victoria 

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week 

Full Time Salary Range: £37,184.90 - £43,384.61 Dependet on experience (pro rata for part time hours)

Allowance: £4,133.14 Inner London Weighting, Pro Rata

Responsibilities

About the role: 

 

  • Hold and coordinate the client’s care for specific clinical interventions agreed with Lead Nurse for a time limited period to support key worker and may include clinical oversight of clients reducing safely utilizing drink down diary as per CGL Alcohol Plan.

  • Will use validated tools in in safe reduction and detoxification.

  • Proactively lead on GP practice engagement supported by Team Leaders, Lead Nurse and Consultant Psychiatrist. The post holder will work with GPs and practice managers to arrange outreach clinics, and staff training on alcohol/ drugs awareness, Identification and Brief Advice (IBA) and referral process into the service.

  • Provide a professional liaison service to mental health services, both in-reach and community hubs, and the Dual Diagnosis service.

  • Act as a mentor to pre, post-registration, undergraduate and post-graduate students undertaking professional clinical courses and act as a preceptor to newly qualified nurses.

  • Provide cover for colleagues in hospitals and community settings during sickness/ absence and annual leave.

 

About you: 

 

  • First level registered nurse with recent relevant post qualification experience and a current PIN 
  • Relevant recent experience of working within drug and alcohol treatment (desirable but not essential) 
  • Sound and demonstrable knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions 
  • Ability to assess and recovery plan service users and formulate written  
    reports, as necessary. 
  • Clinical auditing skills to inform evaluation of the service and identify areas for development. 
  • Employ a professional, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude towards  
    service users and all stakeholders. 
  • An understanding of the importance of professional integrity in relationships with service users, peers, and other relevant professionals
