We have an exciting opportunity for an Assessment Worker to join our busy Tower Hamlets service, supporting the engagement of people who want support with their substance use.

 

You’ll have to record information about what you do, so enjoying a bit of paperwork and attention to detail is important. But most of the time you’ll be enjoying working with people from all backgrounds, making a difference to their lives. 

 

 

Where: Tower Hamlets

Full Time Hours: 37.5hrs per week

Full Time Salary: £27,449.53 - £31,529.41 dependent on experience, pro rata for part time 

Allowance: £4,072.06 Inner London Weighting

Contract Type: Fixed term until March 2025 with possibility to become permanent 

Responsibilities

About the role:

  • Supporting the engagement of people who want support with substance use into effective, evidence based & recovery focused treatment programs, including delivering open access support, triage assessment, telephone screening, needle exchange and outreach activities
  • Support service user assessment, recovery planning and assertive linkage to mutual aid
  • Support the delivery of recovery coaching using a broad range of psychosocial interventions
  • Work with partnership organisations to support effective comprehensive treatment pathways and broaden the client’s recovery plan accordingly
  • Assist with appropriate screening processes including urine and saliva tests.
  • Produce evidence in monthly supervision, and when necessary, to clearly illustrate that individual performance targets are being met
  • Present a professional image and actively promote the service-to-service users, other stakeholders, partnership organisations and the public
  • Uphold data protection legislation and only share client information as per CGL policy, local and formally agreed information sharing protocols and client confidentiality agreements
  • Actively promote equality of opportunities and diversity the project aims

 

About you:

 

  • Knowledge of the issues facing substance misuse including social care, welfare benefits, health, and emergency accommodation
  • Experience of community based support/outreach practices
  • Knowledge of safeguarding risks and escalation process
  • Communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Respond flexibly to the demands of the post
  • Work as a member of a team
  • Show a capacity to work alone and the ability to keep calm under pressure
  • Understand and have a commitment to the principles of equal opportunity and diversity
  • Employ a professional, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude towards service users
  • Show commitment to facilitating positive outcomes for service users
