The Brighton and Hove Street Outreach Service is recruiting one full time Inreach Navigator to join the team. This will be a fixed term contract until March 2025.

 

The post holder will support service users who have been temporarily accommodated by the Street Outreach team.

 

The Inreach Navigator will support these individuals towards longer-term accommodation goals.  The role aims to ensure individuals do not return to rough sleeping.

 

Good communication skills, team-working and an understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness or vulnerable individuals is essential.

 

Having good knowledge of the city and good partnership links is desirable.

 

Where: Brighton

Full Time Hours: 37.5 a week

Full Time Salary Range: £27,449.52 - £31,529.41 (pro rata for part time hours)

Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st March 2025

Responsibilities

About the role: 

 

  • Offer emotional and practical support to clients in the hotel provision
  • Support clients with no local connection to Brighton to find suitable move-on accommodation elsewhere in the UK within a short timeframe
  • Work closely with drug and alcohol teams to ensure that clients can access treatment if required.
  • Work proactively to ensure that clients have access to ongoing healthcare
  • Use creative interventions to support clients to maintain accommodation and prevent a return to rough sleeping
  • Work closely with local authorities and housing providers across the UK and abroad, to maximise accommodation opportunities for individuals with no local connection to Brighton & Hove.
  • Convene and contribute to service user case conferences where appropriate.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and reflective practice with the street outreach team.
  • Work closely with all partner services in Brighton and Hove, sharing appropriate information and ensuring that action plans are carried through.
  • Represent the team at external forums where appropriate, if requested to do so.

 

About you: 

 

  • Experience or understanding of the needs and challenges facing people experiencing homelessness
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following: substance misuse, alcohol misuse, mental health, housing law, supporting clients with NRPF
  • Experience working with individuals with multiple and complex needs
  • The ability to work with confidence and patience with clients unwilling to engage with services and those that exhibit challenging behaviour, including setting boundaries and managing conflict constructively
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures applicable to children and vulnerable adults
  • Confidence to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of services, representing the organisation and creating effective pathways
  • Ability to manage and plan own workload to meet deadlines and targets
  • Ability to critically reflect and evaluate interventions, service delivery and areas for development
  • Confidence to work autonomously as well as part of the team
  • Ability to write reports, complete forms and keep full and accurate records
