Overview

Change Grow Live are looking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist for their substance use treatment services in West Sussex. 

 

The post holder will be part of the Strategic Leadership Team, be the Clinical Lead for the service and, alongside the Services Manager, have responsibility to support the provision of holistic care for service users. The post covers the whole county; the post holder will have a base at one of our locality hubs and be willing and able to travel between the hubs at Bognor Regis, Chichester, Worthing and Crawley as needed.

Responsibilities

About the role:

 

  • Be part of the Strategic Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic oversight of the service
  • Provide regular clinical input to the service through conducting specialist clinics that offer assessment and evidence-based treatment interventions
  • Ensure that service users consistently receive high quality services that adhere to the best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards
  • Responsible for providing clinical supervision to prescribing staff and oversee practice within the service is in line with organisational policies, objectives and values
  • Provide a clinical assessment, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation, of a wide range of substance users presenting to the service
  • Take an active part in the implementation, adherence and development of internal and external clinical governance procedures
  • Lead multi-disciplinary clinical meetings and making decsions based on good practice and governance
  • Responsible for contributing to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved. You will be required to record and input client data and information in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.

 

Successful candidates will be able to access a well-developed monthly CPD program, receive regular supervision and be fully supported in the appraisal and revalidation structure. All doctors within Change Grow Live receive weekly protected CPD and are encouraged and supported to get involved in clinical audit and research. Applicants for the role should have significant experience in addiction medicine at Consultant level.

About you:

 

  • Medical Degree and completion of Basic Medical Training
  • Full GMC - UK Registration with License to Practice
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
  • Consultant Psychiatrist on the GMC specialist register with an endorsement in Substance Misuse
  • Good understanding and knowledge of addiction psychiatry including management of opiate substitution therapy, opiate and alcohol detoxification and post detoxification pharmacology
  • Able to work flexibly across operational sites as specified in the service delivery model and work flexibly within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision.
  • Experience of working with substance use and mental health issues and a clear understanding of the need for and ability to deliver quality services
  • Sound and demonstrable knowledge of clinical prescribing issues
