We are actively seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Lived Experience Mentor to contribute to our successful service. No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key. 

 

The post-holder will work with service users initiating, building, and utilising recovery capital to move into long term sustained recovery. This will be achieved by working with service users, supporting, and delivering one to one intervention as required.



Location: Canarvon Street, Manchester
Full Time Hours: 18 hours per week
Full Time Salary: £23,400.00 - £24,466.99 dependent on experience

Responsibilities

The focus of the role will include:

 

  • To promote visible Recovery within Manchester
  • To reduce alcohol and drug related harm to the individual and wider community
  • To provide positive role model support to Service Users through lived experience
  • To actively promote equality of opportunity and diversity
  • Always recognise professional & personal boundaries
  • To support, develop and maintain links with the recovery community and mutual aid
  • To promote healthier lifestyles and increase service user choice
  • Assist with the engagement of service users into effective evidence-based treatment programmes.
  • To offer personalised recovery coaching, brief interventions and group work programmes

About you:

 

  • Experience of the impact of drug and alcohol dependency and a clear understanding of the need for personalised quality services.
  • Willingness to develop and demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Knowledge of the issues facing service users including appropriate medical interventions, social care, and health issues.
  • To understand recovery in all its forms and a range of mutual aid groups
  • Show a commitment to supporting service users.
  • Contribute to written reports and data collection, as necessary.
  • Ability or willingness to work with and manage challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge and experience of community-based services
