As a Harm Reduction Worker at Change Grow Live you will support the delivery of high quality service provision by creating an ambitious service user focused culture and engaging staff to provide a continually improving and innovative service.

Where: Newham, London

Hours: Full time 37.5 Hours per week

Full Time Salary: £25,273,53 to £27,449,52 Dependent on experience, Pro rata if part time

Allowances: £4072.06 Inner London Weighting, Pro Rata

Contract Type: 12 Month Fixed Term

Responsibilities

This role will predominantly be focused on ensuring that harm reduction messages and health promotion are integrated throughout the local recovery services. 

 

The postholder will deliver effective harm reduction services, including the provision of needle and syringe programme, testing for blood borne viruses and referral/access to treatment for blood borne viruses and injecting related injuries/complications. You will also support with workforce development and drug/alcohol awareness training to staff across local services and partnership agencies.

 

You will be open, compassionate, and driven to provide the very best care and support for everyone.  You will need to be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and be comfortable working with multiple teams internally and externally.

 

Successful candidates may have previously worked in any the following areas:

  • Substance misuse services
  • Rehabilitation services
  • Healthcare services
  • Social care
  • Prison service
  • Hospitals and other medical practices

 

To be successful you will need to have:

  • An understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.
  • A commitment to multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with other professions 
  • Excellent training and presentation skills
  • Accomplished written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of personal IT competency.
  • The ability to accurately update and maintain records in a timely fashion and to work to deadlines for the submission of information, e.g. reports.
  • Excellent time management skills, and an ability to work on own initiative, prioritising accordingly.
  • Excellent team working and interpersonal skills, maintaining a highly cooperative approach to supporting colleagues in delivering service objectives.
  • We also expect an assertive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, young people and adults, and applicants to these posts will need to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to best safeguarding practice.
