An exciting opportunity has arisen to join CGL Newham Rise children and young people’s substance misuse team as an Early Interventions Co-ordinator. The post holder will take a lead on the coordination and delivery of the service’s early intervention and prevention activity with the aim of expanding service visibility and increasing accessibility into treatment. The post holder will ensure the promotion of the service’s early intervention, prevention and targeted offer is far-reaching amongst partners and other key stakeholders and that effective referral pathways are developed and maintained to ensure ease of accessibility into treatment.

 

Building on existing partnerships already established with city wide partners, the post holder will increase visibility amongst settings that work with young people and increase our service interaction with such providers.

 

You will also ensure the service is visible and accessible to the most vulnerable and those with additional and complex needs i.e. SEND and SEMH, by targeting specialist services and provisions, upskilling relevant workforce, and developing effective pathways. Alongside this, the post holder with help transform our social media presence to ensure the service increases its appeal amongst children/young people and identifies new and innovative ways to engage with people/communities online.

 

Where: This role will be based across the borough of Newham

Hours: 37.5 per week (Full Time)

Salary: £27,449.53- £31,393.77 dependant on experience (based on full time hours, pro rata if part time)

Allowance: Inner London Weighting of £4,072.06

Responsibilities

About the role: 

  • Lead on the coordination and delivery of the service’s universal, early intervention, prevention & education offers
  • To increase visibility and accessibility of the service amongst children, young people, families, and partners with the aim of increasing referrals into service for specialist support.
  • The coordination and delivery of group work, outreach, training and other programmes of work relevant to the role.
  • To support the development of projects that increase visibility, create awareness, and improvement engagement including development of educational programmes, informative resources, and prevention pathways
  • To devise and implement innovative methods to maximise engagement particularly amongst hard to reach or marginalised individuals/communities
  • To develop and deliver group work and training programmes aimed at creating awareness of the service alongside delivering early intervention key messages
  • To be responsible for proactively generating and increasing referrals from relevant partners including utilising data to target specific services/provisions
  • Working flexibly across sites where required
  • Ensure effective and consistent service user involvement including coproduction.
  • To support the coordination and development of the service’s social media activity.

 

 About you: 

  • Experience of working with young people and knowledge of the issues they face 
  • Knowledge of safeguarding concerns in relation to children and young people and the Fraser Competence framework 
  • Have an excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field 
  • Knowledge of working with evidence-based practice around young people’s substance misuse treatment services and methods, including relevant best practice guidance 
  • An accomplished communicator, both verbal and written with a high degree of personal IT competency 
  • Be able to accurately update and maintain records and to work to deadlines for the submission of information, e.g., reports 
  • Have excellent team working and interpersonal skills, maintaining a highly cooperative approach to supporting colleagues in delivering service objectives
