We are currently looking for a Young Person's Resilience Worker to be part of our Newham Rise children and young people’s team. This role involves delivering targeted interventions, focusing on drug and alcohol awareness, education, and prevention for young people. You will also work closely with the MOPAC (Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime) youth-to-adult (Y2A) hub, providing support to young adults aged 18-25 who are also connected to probation services.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Full Time Salary Range: £27,449.53 - £31,393.77 (pro rata for part time hours)
Allowance: Inner London Weighting of £4,072.06 (pro rata for part time)
Contract Type: Fixed term for 12 months

Responsibilities

About the Role

  • Support young people and young adults (18-25) from the point they engage with the service, through their entire journey.
  • Work alongside the MOPAC Y2A hub, specifically supporting young adults involved with probation services.
  • Provide screening, assessments, psychosocial interventions, care planning, and post-treatment support, ensuring seamless transitions in care.
  • Respond effectively to safeguarding issues, ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals you work with.
  • Reduce drug and alcohol-related harm, helping create healthier communities.
  • Advocate for access to relevant services, ensuring holistic outcomes in relation to health and well-being.
  • Promote positive outcomes that enable young people to lead safer, healthier, and more purposeful lives, building resilience and reducing risks.

About You

  • Experience working with young people, with a good understanding of the issues they face.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices, particularly concerning children and young people, including the Fraser Competence framework.
  • Strong understanding of drug and alcohol-related issues and experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of best practices in substance misuse treatment services, especially in relation to young people.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and a high level of IT proficiency.
  • Team-oriented with a cooperative, supportive approach to achieving service objectives.
