Our Camden service thrives as a dynamic and collaborative team, featuring a dedicated staff including a service manager, consultant psychiatrists, medical professionals, caring nurses, attentive healthcare assistants, empathetic recovery staff, dedicated volunteers, efficient administrators, and supportive peer mentors.

 

Location: Camden

Hours: Full-time - 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £24,466.99 - £26,110.87 dependent on experience (based on full time working hours, pro rata if part time)

Allowance: £4,072.06 Inner London Weighting, Pro Rata

Responsibilities

The Role:

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a central role in our Camden service. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating closely with your Nursing team to develop care pathways.
  • Supporting service users in opiate and alcohol interventions.
  • Leading harm reduction interventions and conducting physical and mental health assessments.
  • Keeping the people who use our services at the heart of everything you do.
  • Undertaking phlebotomy and ensuring vaccine storage adheres to health guidelines (training will be provided).

 

About You:

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work flexibly as part of a team.
  • Experience in substance misuse or social care (advantageous but not essential).
  • A clear understanding of the need for and the ability to deliver quality services.
  • Good organisational skills and confidence to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility to respond to the demands of the post.

 

To excel in this role, have proven understanding of, or demonstrate an interest & willingness to learn:

  • Completing vital signs for patients to complement the work of nursing staff or recovery coordinators.
  • Support patients to undertake urinary drug screens.
  • Accompany recovery coordinators, medical staff & nursing staff to home visits where required.
  • Stock management of a needle & syringe program including ordering sterile works & maintaining a clean & safe environment within the needle exchange.
  • Championing the COPD pathway between drug & alcohol services and specialised COPD services. An understanding of COPD would be advantageous, or a demonstration of having researched this illness & understanding the associated risks & how substance use can affect COPD. This role will be responsible for ensuring COPD treatment remains at the forefront of recovery workers treatment and care plans for service users, and will involve liaising directly with Camden’s local COPD support programs.
  • Ad hoc tasks related to safe provision of service within a drug & alcohol setting, under the supervision of nursing staff where required.
