We are currently seeking sessional Group Support Workers to assist in delivering SMART group work sessions.

We are currently seeking to recruit several sessional Group Support Workers. Whether you have prior experience delivering groups in a substance misuse setting or a similar field, or if you have personal lived experience and have successfully gone through recovery yourself, we welcome your application.

Salary: £14.98 to £18.95 per hour (inclusive) dependent on experience.

Location: Croydon

 

Responsibilities

Your primary focus will be on delivering SMART groups, you will collaborate with other program facilitators and professionals within the project to deliver groups, utilising evidence-based practices to address the specific needs of our service users.

 

Role-specific responsibilities include:

  • Preparing subject matter and materials for groups.
  • Engaging in debriefing and evaluations with co-facilitators after groups/pods.
  • Supporting with graduation events for service users who have completed the program.
  • Supporting with reviewiing service user feedback and making necessary adjustments.
  • While advantageous,  experience of participating or supporting with groups and managing group dynamics, is not essential; your unique experiences and commitment matter most to us. 

 

About you:

  • Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, complemented by proficient IT abilities.
  • Proactive and Organised: Being proactive, capable of working independently, and possessing strong time management skills.
  • Experience with Groups: Have worked with groups before and know how to manage group dynamics, including conflict or challenging behaviour or experience of volunteering in substance misuse services.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Experience in substance misuse or a related area.
  • Experience leading SMART groups.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based methods for group work.
  • While having a qualification in group work would be helpful, it's not necessary. We value your experiences and dedication above all else.
  • Know and respect professional boundaries when you're delivering a group or working on your own.
  • Adapt flexibly to the demands of the position.
  • Maintain a calm under pressure.
