Overview

Change Grow Live is a charity dedicated to the belief that we can make a difference to our service users lives, offering support and respect in a safe environment, treating each user as an individual and working with them to find the right support and care options.

 

Over recent years we have seen a significant increase in the use of vapes with young people under the age of 18 across Manchester and this new role is an exciting opportunity to support young people in this new ever changing landscape around Vaping. As the Young Persons Resilience Worker – Vaping Lead, you will engage young people in a range of interventions around vaping, utilising a young person-centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and lead safe, happy and healthy lives. 

 

You will also be responsible for delivering training to variety of external professionals to raise their awareness around vaping, highlighting the dangers, potential harms and the links to substance misuse for young people.

  

You will ensure a positive learning environment where integrity and professionalism are paramount, whilst empowering young people to ensure all attempts at positive outcomes are achieved for those using the service. You will also develop and maintain excellent working relationships with partners both internally and externally with wider partnerships.

 

Where: Manchester

Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: £27,449 - £31,529 dependant on experience 

Contract: 12 month fixed term contract - subject to review

Responsibilities

Key points about the role:

 

To engage young people in a range of interventions around vaping, utilising a young person-centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and lead safe, happy and healthy lives. 

 

The post holder will work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team at the service named above, to deliver high quality provision by:

 

  • Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment journey.
  • Deliver training to professionals around the harms, risks associated with young people and vaping
  • Providing screening, assessment, psychosocial interventions, integrated care planning, post treatment support, including transfer of care.
  • Identifying and responding effectively to potential safeguarding issues.
  • Reducing harm to service users and the wider community.
  • Promoting carer, service user and community involvement.
  • Providing advocacy for access to partnership services.
  • Working with service users to support positive, holistic outcomes in relation to their health and wellbeing, enabling them to lead safe, healthy, and purposeful lives: reducing risk and increasing resilience.

About you:

  • Work flexibly across operational sites as required.
  • Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours of work to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision.
  • Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge, and skills.
  • Participate in appraisal, training, and supervision processes.
  • Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation, and practice relevant to the relevant client group.
  • Ensure the implementation of all CGL policies.
  • Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
