An opportunity has arisen for an experienced substance misuse practitioner to join the Black Country Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC). We are looking for a motivated individual who has the ability to work in a fast paced environment against tight deadlines with a real passion to make a difference to vulnerable children and families. You will be part of a special team delivering an alternative form of care proceedings to improve outcomes for children, supporting parents to overcome substance misuse, mental health & domestic abuse problems that have put their children at risk of serious harm.

 

Candidates will be required to travel between sites across Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley so a driving license and access to a vehicle is required.

 

Internal secondment will be considered.

Responsibilities

About the role:

  • Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and supporting service users to access onward referrals.
  • Work flexibly and creatively to establish and support our service users in making a positive difference to their lives.
  • Complete direct work with service users around the issues they face.
  • Able to assist and carry out appropriate screening processes including urine and saliva tests, after completion of appropriate training or demonstration of relevant experience.
  • Be responsible for writing assessments and preparing reports so good report writing skills and attention to detail is important. .

 

About you: 

  • Experience of working with families, adults and young people in a substance misuse setting who have complex needs, engaging them in interventions, utilising a whole family approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and supporting them to lead a safe, happy and healthy life..
  • Ability to meeting demanding targets and deadlines
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective intervention skills to enable better life opportunities to service users.
