Do you have lived experience of substance abuse and recovery? Would you like to leverage that valuable experience to support others as a Peer Mentor? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you! We are currently offering a unique role as an Inclusive Peer Mentor.

 

Location: Camden
Hours: 37.5 per week 
Salary: £23,400 - £24,466.99, dependent on experience 

Allowance: £4,072.06 ILW

 

This is a fixed Term Contract Until 31st March 2025.

Responsibilities

This exciting new pilot project is set to break down barriers and bridge the gap between DWP Job Centres and Recovery Services.

 

As a Peer Mentor, you will provide crucial support to individuals dealing with substance misuse issues, helping them access the support they need to gain and sustain employment.

Your role as a Peer Mentor will involve creating safe spaces and offering one-to-one support, guiding and empowering people to reach their goals.

 

As an Inclusive Peer Mentor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspiration and Motivation: Inspire, motivate, and support individual's in managing their dependency, guiding them to access the appropriate support, which may include treatment, Universal Credit, and housing services. Help them progress toward employment and a brighter future.

  • Personalised Support: Engage with individuals on a one-to-one basis, working closely to identify their goals and aspirations. Understand what is important to them and help them chart a path toward achieving their desired outcomes.

  • Building Confidence: Support individuals in boosting their self-confidence, empowering them to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. Offer emotional support when needed to ensure they stay on track.

  • Planning and Evaluation: Collaborate with each person to develop, review, and assess action plans, tracking their progress and the impact of the support provided. Continuously refine and adapt the care plans to meet evolving needs.

  • Teamwork: Foster close working relationships with DWP work coaches and local substance misuse services, ensuring seamless coordination of support and resources.

  • Meeting Facilitation: Assist people in attending crucial meetings with DWP, Substance Misuse Services, and partner agencies. Be the bridge that connects them to the essential resources and services they require on their journey to recovery and employment.

About You:

  • Lived experience of substance misuse and recovery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficient IT skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with individuals with complex needs, while maintaining empathy and non-judgmental attitudes.
  • Confidence in both independent and team work.
  • Capacity to remain calm under pressure.
