This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in getting back into paid work and utilising lived experience and skills towards supporting in Adult Social care substance misuse services.

 

Recovery Motivators are anticipated to be people who are themselves in recovery in respect of drug or alcohol use or people who have experience of living with drug or alcohol misuse within their family, who would like others to benefit from their experience.

 

You will work with those who are directly impacted by their own Alcohol Misuse and the people who care for them, family members and friends; as well as working with key partners to empower communities. The main function of your role will be supporting clients and group facilitation.

 

This role will have a client base of supporting clients in post treatment. The role will also include group facilitation and to network within the service and Brighton communities to relevant support agencies. This is a part time role 2 days a week- Tuesday and Thursdays - Although we are flexible and you can change days where needed. 

 

Hours: 15

Salary: £22,357.18- £23,525.95 Pro Rata

Responsibilities

About the role: 

 

  • Provide a welcoming and consistent environment in open access area 
  • Create links with local communities and work to target people affected by drugs and alcohol who are not in touch with mainstream services – those isolated in communities, unaware of services, or who do not feel services are for them 
  • Attend team meetings/group supervision with the aim of sharing good practice and finding solutions 
  • Meet individuals within the community to discuss their personal goals regarding their recovery and to support families affected by drugs and alcohol to discuss their personal goals and support needs 
  • Utilise existing local resources and build local community awareness, signposting to relevant agencies 
  • Assist the Volunteer and peer Mentor Coordinator in setting up and identifying specialist advice /support and recovery opportunities. 

 

 

About you: 

 

  • Lived experience of drug or/and alcohol misuse 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with good IT skills 
  • Be able to build relationships with individuals with multiple needs, whilst remaining empathetic and non-judgemental towards Service Users 
  • Confident in working alone as well as part of a team 
  • Can remain calm under pressure 
  • Able to travel as required, including where public transport is not available
